Changes to bus service 98 and 98A from 30/10/17
Sent: Thursday, 5 October 2017 16:26
Message to Erwarton Parish Meeting, Harkstead Parish Council, and Holbrook Parish Council, Councillor David Wood
There are changes with local bus service 98 and 98A from Monday 30th October 2017.
These services are operated by Ipswich Buses with a combination of both commercial and financially supported journeys by Suffolk County Council. This authority remains under financial pressure to make savings throughout the county for local bus services.
Due to poor patronage and low revenue with ‘off-peak’ journeys, we have reluctantly had to reduce the service provision through Erwarton, Harkstead and Lower Holbrook.
The Monday to Saturday 07.50 from Shotley to Ipswich and in the 15.15 from Ipswich to Shotley will continue to operate as sponsored journeys.
Holbrook will continue to be served with the Ipswich Buses service 92, while the locations of Erwarton, Harkstead and Lower Holbrook will continue to have public transport provided by Connecting Communities – Hadleigh Community Transport on 01473 826242.
This is subject to advance booking. They will arrange journeys to Holbrook or Shotley as destinations or to connect with the wider bus network.
The revised timetable will be available via www.suffolkonboard.com and Ipswich Buses in due course.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused with these changes.
Regards, Network Planning, Passenger Transport, Suffolk County Council
